Alen Whitewing Parents/guardians: My Guardian is Lisa Whitewing and my parents are Shannon Whitewing and Jason Padilla Favorite Memory of High School: To be honest, my favorite memory is every performance I’ve ever been a part of. Seeing and hearing the community enjoying the performance will always be my favorite. Favorite Class(es)/Why: My favorite classes so far have always been Advanced Math with Mrs. Nelson and Indigenous art with Kristine Earth Favorite Teacher(s)/Why: I can name so many like Mrs Fernandez, Mrs Eberly, Dr. Brasch, Mr Warren, but I wanna shout out Mr Garthoff for everything. He’s been there and tried helping me even when he didn’t understand anything I was working on. Most influential adult/Why: My most influential adult is my mom and my grandma/Guardian. They’ve always been there to encourage me on whatever I wanted to do and taught me so many things about life that I will forever be grateful for them. Future Plans: My future plans are to go to UNL for Business Administration and become a part of a big company like HCI Words of Wisdom to Underclassmen: If you want to go to college or something, WORK HARD for it. People can help you out but cannot take you to that point, YOU have to help yourself as well.

Shyleigh Rose Horn Parents/guardians: Deanna Thomas Favorite Memory of High School: I really enjoyed performing for the school musicals. I was always surrounded by such kind people, and we had a lot of fun. The performances were my favorite. It’s nice to see months of work come together into one nicely done thing. Favorite Class(es)/Why: My favorite classes were Mrs. Eberly’s Chemistry and Physics. I enjoy science-y stuff, and Eberly makes it enjoyable. Favorite Teacher(s)/Why: Dr. Brasch, Mrs. Eberly, and the Garthoff’s are really good teachers. I can’t really think of any bad teachers I’ve had, but these teachers have always made me feel welcome and cared about. Most influential adult/Why: My brother Eugene has been the most influential adult in my life. He guided me through the last three years, and supported everything I did. He’s the best. Future Plans: I plan to attend Wayne State College to study science education. Words of Wisdom to Underclassmen: Teachers devote their time to your future, so don’t waste it. Try not to procrastinate or push anything off, the pile up of work is hard to overcome. Also, follow traffic laws in the hallways, it’ll make everyone’s life easier.

Finals from district speech. Ayden 6th in entertainment and 4th place in extemp. Alen in 5th in POI. Kenny, Ariayla, Shyleigh, Jredyn, and Alen in 7th OID. Baylee 5th in humorous prose. While no one qualified for state, we had the most district medalists in Winnebago history. Two were very close. Every speaker earned superior ranking in their events. Our future is bright. We are so proud of our speakers. A special shout-out to our amazing seniors who wrapped up their high school competitive speaking careers. You will be missed. You have built the foundation and been amazing mentors!
