All 6th grade students who are residents of Winnebago no matter what school they currently attend or students who are already enrolled at Winnebago Public Schools no matter where their district of residence is are welcome to apply for the Winnebago Public Schools Academy beginning the 2022-2023 school year.
Applications will be available beginning March 2, 2022 at the school. Applications will be due on April 8, 2022. Notification of the selected candidates will be made by May 25, 2022.
There will be an Academy information night for interested students and their parents/guardians to attend and find out more details. The information night will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Please join us in the 7th Grade Academy classroom at 5:30 p.m.
How are students selected for the Academy?
The selection criteria are based on the following:
1. Grade point average
2. Test scores
3. Attendance
4. Behavior
5. Teacher referral
6. Essay
7. Completed application packet turned in by due date
Each of the criteria is awarded points. The students will be ranked according to the total points they receive. The top 12-16 students will be accepted into the Academy. All other students will be placed on a waiting list.
